Why Do We Blog?

A while back, someone asked me why I blog. I am curious now, why do YOU blog? People have blogs about countless topics and for a wide variety of reasons, and it might be neat to find out what are some of them. With that in mind, I have decided to created this meme.

The Question: Why do you blog?

The Rules:
1. Comment below to answer the question with five reasons.
2. Create your own blog entry to continue the meme.
3. Give credit and link back to the original blog post and to the blog where you saw the meme shared.
4. Tag your friends and encourage them to participate.

Part of the fun of this is seeing how many people keep the chain going and seeing all of the different -- or similar -- reasons that people give, so be sure to read other people's blogs to see what they say!

I will start by answering my own question. I originally posted an answer to this question last summer, yet as time goes by, my reasons have grown. Be clear that they have not changed, yet I have even more reasons now. In addition to what I posted last year, here are five more reasons why I like to blog.

Why do you blog?
1. To Learn. I like to learn, and sometimes I learn new things when researching for what I want to write.
2. For Fun. Sometimes I like to do or write or share something simply for the enjoyment or the humor of it.
3. To Read. I sincerely enjoy reading people's comments. It makes me feel good to know that people care enough to read my blog and comment on it, and it is even better when I see people commenting off of one another's comments.
4. To Share. When someone tells me that they have "gotten something" from reading my blog, I feel blessed to know that God used me to touch that person.
5. For Friends. It is neat to meet and get to know people via our blogs. Some of these people have even gotten to be my buddies outside of the blog world. How neat is that?

I am going to tag Dawn, A.Marie, Kathy, Lisa, Julie, Jennyfer, and...if you would like to be tagged, just let me know.

Your turn!

  2. Oh cool! Thanks for the tag! I'll be sure to post my "why" just as soon as I get the kids off to school today (That way I have some quiet time to sit and concentrate LOL!). There are so many reasons as to why I blog (especially considering I have two blogs, and possibly will have a third coming soon! LOL!), that those reasons are a blog post in and of itself, so, for simplicity reasons, I'll type up a blog post for those reasons, and post a comment here when it is done, with a link back on my post back to your blog! :)

  8. Thanks for the tag!

    1. I first started blogging, so I could be part of the TOS Homeschool Crew, last year around this time. Started meeting some other homeschool bloggers....

    2. Started to share posts about Apologia Biology since I am leading a co-op class. Thought it would be cool to put some micro-pictures out there for folks that may not have a microscope. Started meeting other folks that are teaching Biology...

    3. Then...I thought, hmmmm....I love being in nature and photography (there are incredible lessons to be learned there)...so I started blogging that....more new bloggy friends.

    4. When I started with the Crew last year, I had no idea this whole world was out here really..I mean certainly I knew people blogged, but didn't realize the sense of community you find! So fun! :)

    5. It's cheaper than therapy! (Kidding on that one...a little! :))

    3. So,

  9. Okay, I am going to try and put this on my blog today. To answer your questions, I blog because:

    (1) I BLOG to meet new people. Hubby says I can talk to anyone or anything! LOL

    (2) I BLOG to read what goes on in other blogger's "Corner of the World." I have learned alot about homeschooling, arts, crafts, photography, books, etc., simply by reading other blogs.

    (3) I BLOG to read positive comments, both on my blog and other blogs. It encourages me!

    (4) I BLOG for the feeling of being connected. I live in a small town, and sometimes I feel a bit "out of the loop" and disconnected from the "real world."

    (5) I BLOG because blogging helps me grow as a person. I have to think "outside of the box" sometimes and also step out of my "comfort zone."

  10. Stopping by officially for the CBC...I would ask to be tagged, but with my commitment for the 40 days of Lent I'm overwhelmed enough with posts...and then there's all the reviews I'm behind on. YIKES.

This was fun to read though!

    Blessings,
    Trish

  12. This is a great question! I blog to:

    1. Encourage.
    2. Educate.
    3. Inspire.
    4. Amuse.

I wish I also had time for a personal blog to journal and reflect. Maybe some day . . .
